Today I’m thankful for Gattaca.
Someone once posed the question, “If you could only watch three movies for the rest of your life, what would they be?” Without question, one of my trinity would be Gattaca (& without starting a huge debate I’d also throw in The Shawshank Redemption and Old School). If you haven’t seen it, I’d highly recommend it.
The entire concept is build on realizing that you are limited only by your own dreams. You are not what people say you are, you are not limited by your potential, your genetics don’t define you. You are whoever you want to be.
The movie is about grit. How hard are you willing to work for what you want? How much are you willing to sacrifice for your dreams? As I watch I can’t help but question my commitment to my dreams and my resolve builds to hit them.
And as if the rest of the movie doesn’t push and drive you enough, you get to a point when this line is uttered: You want to know how I did it? This is how I did it, Anton.. I never saved anything for the swim back. Every single time I watch it I get chills and a little awesome leaks out of my eyes.
Need a boost? Need some motivation? Getting tired and need to turn up the grit? Check out this movie, it’ll do the trick.
