Today I’m thankful for Becky jamming out in the car.
Let me set the stage a little… Driving to my mom’s to celebrate Christmas and we’re about two hours in to the ride. Becky’s driving and says someone is tailgating her so I look back in the side mirror and see the writing “Objects in the rear view mirror…” so I suddenly think of the Meatloaf song and fire that up. Becky doesn’t recognize the song so I fire up I Would Do Anything for Love.
As soon as the music starts Becky gets a huge smile. As soon as the singing starts she gives old Meatloaf a run for his money. It was awesome!!!
It was one of those moments when you see someone experiencing nothing but happiness. She was totally in the flow and loving every second of it. Her smile was huge and was still there as she was singing. She was so happy and full of positive energy that I couldn’t help but sit back and feel ecstatic too.
As she was singing she had the same smile that she showed when I fell in love with her. It was absulotely awesome! You know how there are different smiles we all have? This is one of my favorites of her smiles. (The smile above was not from today, she didn’t want a picture or video taken)
It’s the one that I think of when I hear the song Long December by Counting Crows… “All at once you look across a crowded room to see the way that light attaches to a girl.” It’s the smile I see in my head when I hear More Than Life by Whitley… “The sun on her face, and the touch of lovers’ hands.” It’s almost the same as the smile I have on video as we were hiking on the glacier in Canada, but not quite. It’s close to the smile she had crossing the finish line during her marathon last year, but it’s a little different.
And that’s why I’m thankful for Becky jamming out in the car today. It’s one of things that bring out the smile that lights up my world. It reminds me that we don’t have to be on vacation or finishing a marathon to see a smile like that. They can happen at any time regardless of the surroundings or the day. I just need to watch for them more. 🙂
